The Everglades is one of the
largest and slowest rivers in the United States and gives its
name to the National Park.
Its name means grass river, and its slow moving
water flows from north to south remaining clear. Its maximum depth
ranges from 20 to 30 cm and it can reach temperatures over 32
degrees; it is inhabited by a variety of flora and fauna including
alligators, turtles, snakes, fish and exotic birds.
Itinerary: The Everglades
tour includes a visit to the Miccosukee Indian camp, where your
guide will recount their history and traditions, you’ll
visit the museum founded in 1983 where a rare glimpse of this
population’s past is featured.
On board a typical AIRBOAT
(an airboat is a flat-bottom boat driven by a propeller similar
to an airplane’s), which sails on top of the water through
mangrove forests, you can find alligators and tropical birds;
it will take you to an authentic Indian village, located in the
swamps, where you can walk on wooden walkways to get a panoramic
view of the Everglades and its ecosystem and enjoy the sounds
of nature immersed in silence.
